The tech friend a London video studio asks first.
cairdstudio.comCaird Studio makes films for businesses: films that introduce them, client stories, and event coverage. It's Sven's studio, in London.
Sven and I go back to a mutual friend's birthday in fifth grade. So when he started Caird, I was the person he'd message about the tech.
We don't build his site, and we don't design it. Sven built the whole thing himself, on a website builder, and he does all the development. Now and then he sends a question, or I spot something and say so.
Like the white circle behind the icon in his menu. It didn't need to be there, so I told him. Or the time a change he'd made wasn't showing up, and I walked him through clearing the cache in the browser's developer tools.
There's nothing for him to log into. When something comes up, he sends a message.
General advice. An honest opinion on whatever comes up, how the site looks included. I told him the icon in his menu didn't need a white circle behind it.
Caching. Why a change doesn't show up straight away, and how to fix it. I showed him where to clear it in the browser's developer tools.
Tech stack. Which tools to build with and which to pay for, and what his website builder does well and where it stops.
AI. Which tools are worth paying for, and what they're actually good at.
The site is his, and so are the decisions.
